Canada Post Service Disruption
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) announced a national strike, effective Thursday, September 25, 2025. As there will be no Canada Post service delivery during the strike, we have put plans in place to ensure we minimize disruption of services to our brokers and customers.
We will continue to monitor the situation and update this page as needed.
Please see below for answers to some of the questions you may have.
Payments and refunds
You should continue to make online or telephone payments through your bank or make payments at your broker’s office. In addition, all Travelers Canada offices will accept personal cheques with advance notice by calling 1.800.268.4543. Please contact your broker with any questions.
During the strike, we will not send payment reminder notices and non-payment of policies will not result in cancellation. When postal services return to normal, we will not count the strike days when calculating overdue days or issuing cancellation notices.
We will continue to process any cancellations and policy changes you request and will work with your broker to determine the best approach to send refund cheques. For example, cheques may be delivered to your broker’s office, picked up at a Travelers Canada office in Calgary, AB, Oakville, ON and Toronto, ON with advance notice by calling 1.800.268.4543, or couriered to your home (not P.O. box).
Claim
Our claim professionals will continue to work with you to find solutions that meet your needs. Claim cheques may be delivered to your broker’s office, made available for pickup with advance notice at a Travelers Canada office in Calgary, AB and Oakville, ON, or couriered to your home (not P.O. box).
Policy changes
- All policy changes (including reinstatements and pay plan changes) will be processed as usual. Please contact your broker if you need to make any changes or amendments to your policy.
- If a requested policy change results in a refund, it will be provided based on your pay plan:
- Monthly pay plans will result in a change to the debit amount. Your broker can advise you of the updated debit amount.
- If a refund cheque is required, we will work with your broker to determine the best approach to send refund cheques. For example, cheques may be delivered to your broker’s office, picked up at a Travelers Canada office in Calgary, AB, Oakville, ON and Toronto, ON with advance notice by calling 1.800.268.4543, or couriered to your home (not P.O. box).
- Refund cheques do not apply to policies that are billed through your broker.
- If you require a copy of your policy documents for policy changes, renewals or new business, please contact your broker.
- If your pink slip is close to expiry, your broker’s office can provide you with an updated slip during the strike.
- Any documentation that could not be sent to you during the strike will be issued when the strike is over.
