In 1999, the British Columbia government introduced the Homeowner Protection Act and Regulations (the "Act") (www.hpo.bc.ca/about) in order to provide consumer protection legislation and regulatory improvements within the residential construction sector. One of the requirements under the Act is a comprehensive, mandatory 2/5/10 Year Home Warranty Insurance on all new residential homes in the Province.

Travelers Canada was the first warranty provider to be approved by the British Columbia Financial Institutions Commission in order to deliver the 2/5/10 Year Home Warranty to new homeowners.
