1866 St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company established in Minnesota.
1928 St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company received Federal Registration in Canada.
 
Travelers Guarantee Company of Canada
1988  Longroup Insurance Company is incorporated by Letters Patent pursuant to The Canadian and British Insurance Companies Act.  Longroup Insurance Company commenced writing property and casualty insurance through Wellington Insurance Company
1995  Longroup Insurance Company changes its name to London Guarantee Insurance Company and acquires the business previously written by Wellington Guarantee, a division of Wellington Insurance Company
2002  London Guarantee Insurance Company was acquired by St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of The St. Paul Companies, Inc. based in St. Paul, Minnesota
2003 London Guarantee Insurance Company changes its name to St. Paul Guarantee Insurance Company
2004 Northern Indemnity, Inc. a related company whose ultimate parent was also The St. Paul Companies, Inc. amalgamated with St. Paul Guarantee Insurance Company
2004 St. Paul Travelers Companies, Inc. was formed through the merger of The St. Paul Companies Inc. and Travelers Property Casualty Corp., creating a new company with 285 years combined experience in managing risk with integrity, innovation and discipline
2005 St. Paul Guarantee Insurance Company amalgamated with Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of Canada
2007 St. Paul Guarantee Insurance Company changed its name to Travelers Guarantee Company of Canada and adopts the famous red Travelers umbrella icon as its logo

2009 The St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company and Travelers Guarantee Company of Canada, the Canadian Licensed Insurers known as Travelers Canada, announced the combination of the property casualty and surety operations under one management team.
